Tremblay, Larry R
I have decided to run in the November election, and want to make my position clear before the election about important issues that will be facing the new council. I have attended all council meetings during the past six years because I believe it’s imperative to know what’s going on in our municipality in order to make informed decisions.
I support secondary suites in an accessory building or in the main residence but not both. I feel this is a way to provide affordable housing by supporting family members or others.
I support an abattoir in Metchosin, but not the proposed change in zoning to allow one in a residential area.
I am opposed to amalgamation with East Sooke and support the findings of the consultant’s report missioned in May of 2000. In my opinion, there have not been sufficient changes in the past eight years to warrant further study.
Our combative style regarding issues does nothing to enhance the reputations of the residents of Metchosin. I would work for an environment whereby a mayor and council would sit down with other councils in the area, and respectfully discuss what is important to all of us.
