Milne, Moralea

My vision of the future sees Metchosin looking much the same as today, with forested slopes, pristine shorelines and the respectful co-existence of human residents with wildlife. I want any new developments to be managed in the most environmentally responsible way possible.
• I want to see the OCP updated, to include the new green and blue spaces but I like our original OCP, it is a sound document that has helped keep us rural and green.
• I support the building of an abattoir, we can’t pretend to be rural and support farmers unless we recognise the need for this facility. Agriculture is the essence of rural.
• I will listen. I want the village centre to be an expression of what this community desires, but every aspect to be designed and maintained to the highest environmental standards.
• I will work to ensure our finances maintain their enviable record of conservative management, especially by keeping infrastructure costs down.
• I support our volunteers and community arts and culture, indeed volunteering has been my main preoccupation for the past decade.
• I support the provincially funded Phase 2 study of the financial implications of amalgamation. We need information to make informed decisions.
