Seaton, Dianna
Involvement and commitment to our community is a family tradition, along with a willingness to put in the extra time and effort to gather information so as to make good common sense decisions. My husband, Lanny, and I have 4 adult children and our grandchildren are the fourth generation of our family to be educated in the Sooke School District.
I value and respect the partnership between school, home and community and that our students are entitled to a variety of learning styles, opportunities and support so as to be engaged, discover their abilities and strive for excellence.
I believe in our young people and that partnerships and effective communication with all groups is required to provide the best possible education for our children. Together, this is our responsibility.
At this time I am a member in the following organization which provides me with current information and a variety of opportunities to advocate and work on behalf of our students:
• Westshore Literacy Now
• Crystal Meth Society
• Belmont Scholarship Society
• Victoria Family Court and Youth Justice Committee
• Aboriginal Education Council
My past positions in the following organizations provide me with the experience, knowledge, insight and network in our community to understand the needs of our school district:
• Trustee for the Greater Victoria Public Library
• Coordinator of the Langford Lavender Festival
• Christmas in the Square,
• Director of the Westshore Seniors and Veterans’ Housing Society
I will promote a new Belmont and Royal Bay Secondary, grade reconfiguration, continue to visit schools and respectfully listen to teachers, parents to ensure a deeper understanding of current issues.
With your support I will continue to work on your behalf to provide the best possible education for our students in a safe, nurturing environment with effective programs to enable our students to achieve their goals. At every opportunity I will encourage a sense of belonging, self confidence with an expectation for personal excellence and promote a desire in our students to seek knowledge through lifelong learning.
I sincerely appreciate the support that I have received from the community in the past three years and look forward to serving as Trustee in our school district, if you once again put your trust in me.
