Jody Twa - Jody Twa’s life has been has been about family and sports, dedication and service, lots of hard work and lots of play. He has an entrepreneurial spirit and is known as someone who listens, understands, collaborates and gets things done.
He was first elected to government as a Councillor in the City of Colwood in 1995. He was then elected to the Mayor’s chair in 2002 and again in 2005 and has now completed his second term this past November 2008. In addition to his Mayoralty duties, Jody has served as a Director on the Capital Regional District Board for 6 years and currently serves on the Environment Committee, Planning & Protective Services Committee and is Vice-Chair of the Core Area Liquid Waste Management Committee. He also co-chairs the community based Triangle Mountain Transmission Towers Citizen Committee. He has served as a Director on the West Shore Parks & Recreation Society for 9 years. He served on the Vancouver Island Transit Commission from 2002-2005 and was a founding committee member of the Bear Mountain Arena.
Jody has a long and active sports background from an early age excelling in both hockey and lacrosse. His lacrosse career ended in 1991 when he won the Mann Cup as a member of the New Westminster Salmonbellies. He has coached a variety of community sports and most recently has turned his attention to the squash courts, the golf course and the kitchen. He has, reportedly, become skilled at all three.
Jody and his wife Diane have two teenaged children in their last years of high school and a Labradoodle named Tucker.
